ABSTRACT
As a special style under the news genre, political news refers to momentous events in the country or other countries that concern the vital political interests of the country and the people. The quality of its translation straightforwardly influences international information exchange, language communication and cultural exchange. From the perspective of functional translation theory, selecting news samples from Washington Post, South China Morning Post, and China daily, this article attempts to analyze Chinese translation of English political news and proposes translation strategies that translators need to pay attention to. What’s more, this article discusses the guidance of functional translation theory in political news translation and confirms the rationality and practicability of this theory, with a view to establishing a translation concept centering on audience and focusing on the effects of news transmission, thus providing some ideas for future political news translation practice

ABSTRACT
Based on the current situation of the development of animal husbandry in Heilongjiang province, the four subsystems for evaluating the comprehensive development level of animal husbandry were determined as the environment and resources subsystem, the economic subsystem, the social subsystem, and the education technology subsystem. The variation coefficient method was used to evaluate the development level of animal husbandry in Heilongjiang province for a total of 13 years from 2005 to 2017. Specific ranking of each subsystem and overall are obtained. The results show that the total benefit has been steadily increasing. The economic subsystem, environment and resource subsystem are significantly related to the education technology subsystem. Except the social subsystem, the other three subsystems are significantly related to the total benefit index, and the correlation coefficient between the special education technology and the total benefit index reaches 0.945. According to the analysis results, several suggestions were proposed from the aspects of developing standardized scale breeding of livestock and poultry, building a modern breeding industry system, and increasing scientific and technological innovation services.
ABSTRACT
Text typology was proposed in the 1970s, by Katharina Reiss, the pioneer of German School. Built on the concept of equivalence, text typology views the text, rather than the word or sentence, as the level at which communication is achieved and at which equivalence must be sought. According to it, translation strategies are determined by the text type of source texts, and there is no single absolute translation strategy that can be used in all translation practice. Guided by the theory, this paper will take specific examples to explain briefly how the text typology guides translation activities

ABSTRACT
This paper focuses on employing Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) in studying a political speech. The objective of the study is to explore the linguistic and pragmatic features and the set of themes in the political speech delivered by President Jammeh during the 49th Independence Anniversary of the Gambia on Thursday, February 20th, 2014. The speech, composed of 22 paragraphs, has been taken from the Internet as corpus. In order to achieve the main goal of the study, Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) was used as a theoretical framework to analyze the speech. The analysis of the obtained data is conducted by drawing upon Fairclough’s three-dimensional model of CDA; particularly, the language text, whether spoken or written, discourse practice and socio-cultural practices. After a macro analysis (semantic macrostructures) and micro analysis (local semantics) of the political speech, the findings show that Jammeh’s language had a specific aim that was linguistically expressed and pragmatically implied through figures of speech, repetition, religious expressions, pronominalization and a set of themes such as criticism of foreign politics, economic progress, political program, appeal to citizenship and threat/warning.
